Hundredth proof that a true story, no matter how faithful the film adaptation is (even tho this has many historical inaccuracies for events that took place in 1987 when the film is set in 1985), holds more power on paper and documentary form than fictionalization. The film is made by U.S.ians for U.S.ians (and spare Jordan fans, not even chicaco Bulls fans). As safe as this crowd-pleaser may be, casting is solid enough to kill a Sunday afternoon braindead by pretending that we should be cheerful because Nike's market share increase due to Air sales allowed it to eat Converse and now it has almost reached 5 billion USD in revenue. Oh yeah, let's celebrate capitalism.
For anything that is worth, Viola Davis is a queen and the most respectable angle of this film is her perspective having vision for the future of her son against any corporate "regulations".
