Hi all,
I didn’t think I would have to do this but here we are. I left during a film. Earlier tonight I went to a showing of Anora which is one of my most anticipated films of the year. I have also had a shitty week which made this even more painful. Right as the movie is about to start, a group of underage girls run into the auditorium and sit in the row behind me. There are about ten of them taking up the majority of the back row. They start yelling as they try to find their seats and they turn on their flashlights and shine them at the screen and at us. They sit down and start taking photos of the screen with flash photography. They proceed to talk loudly during the film and scream. They also proceed to laugh uncontrollably very loudly. The couple sitting next to me gets up and goes and gets the manager. They come in with the manager and security and the girls are miraculously quiet when they come in. The security guard just watches the movie standing off to the side doing nothing. When they leave the girls start talking again, disrupting the film. Finally after I’ve had enough I left. The theater is my fortress of solitude. It’s where I come to get away from everything. When that space is invaded, what do I have left? Why did the theater let underage girls into this film? And why did they do nothing? Anyways I got a ticket to a later showing tonight. DO BETTER THEATERS!!!! DO BETTER!!!!
