For me, it’s always a hit and miss with M. Night Shyamalan. I never know if it’ll get a good film or a bad film.
This time: I got a little both.
The setting: middle of a day concert of one of the popular stars in this fictitious world that has a serial killer trapped in an arena with thousands of screaming fans. What could be the possible outcome? A LOT.
Josh Hartnett shows us why he’s the actor he is. This was the man I fell in love in The Faculty and Halloween H20 and so on. Watching Cooper find himself trapped in the hornet’s nest with no way out. But of course, he finds his way out of harms way, while hurting a few along the way. Watching his #1 dad persona crack under the pressure was fun. Even when you can tell his ticks, Cooper still is cool and confident.
Do you feel the pressure he’s under… not really but who cares cause you’re still having fun. He’s trying to make this the best day ever for his daughter while it’s turning out to be his worst.
I just didn’t get how the concert was during the day and seemed like it was an hour longer than it should’ve been and why were there people up and walking around like they were at a club or game?
I feel like I said too much, but the movie did drag towards the end. There were too many times where it could’ve end but the ending was pretty decent and setting us up for… dare I say a sequel?
Also, my favorite character(s) besides Cooper were the vendor Jamie and the Thinker, which was Kid Cudi in a blonde wig was like the greatest damn thing ever.
Alright Shymalan, you got me on this one.
