Dreamworks schools Disney on how it’s done, in this tale of parenthood disguised as light science fiction. Like the best and most earnest children’s stories, this one can also be enjoyed by grown-ups unironically - a rarity in American animation as of late.
We’re in an era where Hollywood is pushing pro-AI media more than ever (“The Creator” being last year’s example), but this warm, richly animated film proves to be one of their best attempts in recent years.
