Holy shit man I am eating GOOD this year let me tell ya
When this movie was being advertised I was immediately interested in it. I mean robot that came from a very sci-fi land put in the wilderness? Cmon now. A ton of people were like “tf Drew?! it’s a kids movie” And… well yes this movie could be seen as directed towards kids but no, this movie is ART. Dreamworks almost always delivers and with this OH BOY did they ever
For me when I see a movie is animated I need it to do things with the visuals that just are not possible in other movies like it is in animation and my god, this movie deserves to be up there with Spider-Verse, Puss and Boots 2 and TMNT Mutant Mayhem for how animated movies should be done. This movie was GORGEOUS. The whole way through I was glued to the screen. Not even the dangling light that was blocking the screen could distract me (thanks AMC Braintree btw👍)
The story was great when the movie first started I was concerned it was going to be a very predictable and whatever movie and yet this movie still surprised me with what it did. I also really loved the characters in this movie. The robot went through some really heartwarming character development with his goose that he adopts and I also love the fox played by Pedro pascal. I never thought of him as a voice actor but he was pretty damn good here. Would love to see him do more voice acting after this honestly
The humor was honestly pretty good. For a movie “directed towards kids” the humor in there was like kinda dark at times.

But the thing I love the most about this movie is that warm feeling u b getting in your chest that most movies just don’t got. This movie hits u in ur soul. It makes you feel something and when animation does that right it’s goddamn beautiful and that’s what this movie is GODDAMN BEAUTIFUL
This movie is up there for me as top 3 movies of the year. I don’t think anything is beating Dune Part 2 for me honestly. Maybe Gladiator 2? I’m not entirely sure how I will feel on a rewatch but as of right now this movie to me is a masterpiece.
