Black's dialogue doesn't pop as much as in year's past, and despite Gosling being his normal charismatic self and an amusing comedic turn from Russell Crowe, there just isn't much engaging going on.

It actually kills me that this wasn't that great. Because in a world of superhero capes, talking dogs, and sequels, "original" films like this are hard to come by; this one just isn't worth recommending.
