Un film su una macchina assassina se gestito male poteva essere una cagata ma invece Carpenter (basandosi sul romanzo di King) fa l’ennesimo filmone, che divenne anche un piccolo cult.
Il film a modo suo parla del rapporto uomo-macchina, con il protagonista che si innamora dell’auto che prende vita.
Le scene dell’auto che autonomamente uccide sono poche ma tutte ben rese.
Il film è entrato anche nella cultura di massa, un bellissimo episodio di Futurama si basa proprio su questa pellicola.
