ugh. wow. this film is just beautiful. I love how sweet and simple it is. it wasn't making a big deal out of anything. it's just telling the story of these two people. it fell short of a five star rating from me because I wasn't too invested in their stories. but I applaud the way the story-telling was carried out. can we just talk about what that dude had to say about interest and a short attention span: so what he's saying, is that when we talk about attention, we're biased towards reading. like I had this professor who used to go on and on about the idiocy of video games. he talked about how his son would play for hours and that he once tried playing with him but found it completely dull after just a few minutes. now if this was reversed, if the son was talking about how his dad would read for hours and he once tried reading with him and found it boring after a few minutes, well he would accuse the son of having a short attention span, right? but why don't we accuse the professor of having a short attention span? it was brilliantly written (the whole film was tbh). like one's attention span is directly proportional to interest? and then he talks about whether we're losing interest in everyday life. cause we're not paying attention to the things that matter. i am shooketh!! yikes I had to google what marginalia means, lol. these brilliantly written movies expand my vocabulary, so #winning!? haley lu richardson and john cho were amAZing. haley ugh she was phenomenal. i'm gonna stop vomiting random thoughts now (it' 4:15am, my brain stops functioning properly) but I just wanna add that the score sounded so spiritual. it's like meditation music. so pure and shit. I loved it.
