...Scott is outstanding as the older Ripley - a nice change from the Minghella version - though as with that film, I much prefer the story after Dickie 'leaves', as the tension increases exponentially with each half-truth and deception...
...laugh-out-loud clever - the exchanges between Ripley and the dogged Inspector are priceless - and surely one of the most sumptuously shot pieces of television ever.
