Brrrr! Shackleton was extraordinary, the story of his ill-fated expedition incredible and the present day mission to locate his ship beneath the Antarctic ice fascinating…
…but much of the intensity & drama is sucked out (of both events) by editing in the historical reconstructions - I’m all for the colouring of old photos, but mixing in a bunch of AI fixings & Icelandic actors with real footage somehow dilutes the veracity…
…very slick production with outstanding photography, it’s a little padded out (testing my endurance ) with the feel of something intentionally ‘educational’ - it certainly did its job, but I’d not rush back.
