Ok, fine, I'll tag along with your obvious attempts to play my geeky heartstrings and overstuff this film with a lot of my favourite characters making it basically a collection of cool cameos in a rather insubstantial and unremarkable plot and I guess that if you throw a lot of punches a couple will land and that holds true for jokes as well as proven in this barrage of one liners, puns and innuendo driven dialogue that, one has to conclude, is delivered with stunning comedic timing by all.

Yeah, I had a good time. Sue me.

The only thing this does quite effectively is not being too on the nose about the social commentary about tech and AI and in the first half manages to weave this quite deftly into the narrative.

But this is, in the end, a horror film. And at that it fails miserably.

This is so fucking tame it is infuriating. Here you have an above average budget, a fantastic villain with brilliantly creepy creature design and all the possibilities for gore and creative deaths, but no, we make it beige and boring and pedestrian.

I've seen episodes of Sesame Street that were scarier.

Yeah, this was a fun ride.

I think what this captures really well is the uncomplicated vibe of the 90s blockbuster. Jan de Bont's film was simple, straightforward fun. And this is no different.

The director and cast seem to exactly know what they're doing and it just feels like they're having a blast. This of course has a lot to do with the easy charm of Glenn Powell, but the real anchor in this film was Daisy Edgar-Jones. It…

I really wanted to like this more than I did.

Let's get the obvious elephant in the room out of the way first. Cage is absolutely brilliant in this. That said, if his performance feels too camp or over the top to you (which I'd understand) you'll probably not find Longlegs a convincing villain. If you, like me, go along for the ride you'll get Cage at his best. Unhinged, frenetic energy, the portrayal of a truly psychotic and dangerous…

No, but seriously what the fuck was this?

I've grown rather mellow now I'm really old, but there's just one thing that pisses me off and that's lazy film making.

And this is as fucking lazy as it gets.

I get it. I'm a dad. I want the best for my daughters as well. But if I'd make a lengthy concert video for my singer daughter in the guise of a thriller I'd make sure of a couple of things:…

I'd say this is Shyamalan's best directorial effort since quite some time.

What he does really well here is build up an atmosphere that actually becomes quite stifling the further we get into the narrative. It sometimes has a classic 50s science fiction / twilight zone vibe to it, that's actually quite pleasant.

The acting is top notch and even though in the end it all feels quite inconsequential, there are some wonderfully choreographed scenes that actually manage to capture the intended scope of the story rather well.

So all in all, this is lean, well directed and entertaining romp.

I'm quite sure now these movies don't really exist.

They are just manifestations of the sheer willpower of one Mr. Washington.

If he wasn't there, these movies wouldn't be either.

I watched this alone so I have no actual witnesses of me actually watching it I just remember it being 2 hours later all of a sudden and have vague memories of Denzel shouting, driving around and doing his acting thing which was quite good but I don't remember anything else and I'm panicking now and am afraid I'm actually suffering from Alzheimer's or something so if somebody can just tell me if I actually watched this my sanity would be very grateful.
