A definitive entry into the canon of "It does what it says on the tin!" for genre smorgasbords and then goes even further with just how fucking sick it would be to do THE PURGE VS. WEREWOLVES. Here's a rundown of my thoughts as I was watching it in a packed house:
- I also agree anamorphic flares are sick as fuck!!!!! - Awesome sunny color grade during the day. - Love the background world-building stuff with the people prepping for the Full Moon. Peep the signs. - Some of the werewolves have shredded wardrobes from their transformations and I can't think of a single other werewolf movie that does that. - WOLF KILLER - Very few things are as satisfying as an action-packed lab escape sequence. - Oh we're going full ESCAPE FROM NEW YORK here, this is awesome. - Yes, this is the type of movie to have a finale showdown in the rain and have someone slow-mo hero walk through it.
Every hangup I have are clearly related to its budget and the constraints dictated by that. With that in mind, I really hope this movie makes some serious dough. It's the type of genre picture that someone like John Carpenter would have made back in the 80s or 90s. Let's get some sequels cooking, people!
