Long movies are the best movies.
Things really fell into place with this latest viewing of Godfather: Part II. Yes, even the flashbacks I was meh on before have grown on me. Exponentially in fact.
Literally the only fault I can find is the cut between the abortion scene and Vito arriving back in his hometown. It’s awkward to say the least.
Everything else is simply some of the best filmmaking we’ve ever seen. This movie expands the scope of the story without losing any of what made The Godfather the classic it is.
Until now I liked the first more because it’s a more classic mafia movie. Now, I might like this one more because it isn’t, and that’s kind of the point of it all? Although, now that I think about it, maybe I’ll stop trying to figure out what one I like more on it’s own and just love them as a package deal, as they’re meant to be.
Mafia movies are my shit. Poor Fredo.
