The Comey Rule

The Comey Rule

Well, I finally got around to watching the first (god willing, only) Trump show.

Quickly, my take on the October emails announcement is a little unusual in that I don’t think it decided the election. The further we get from 2016, the clearer it’s becoming to me at least that that election was decided the moment Hillary became the nominee. People were sick of her, the “corrupt” label was already firmly stuck to her and Trump’s base of loser white guys was firmly in the bag for him. Not to mention, Voters in general Presidential elections tend to pick who was different from the last person. Obama’s “change” doctrine came back to bite him, it seems.

So, onto the show.

I don’t understand its existence. There’s no flow or rhythm, it’s just “here’s when they had dinner”, “here’s when Sally Yates got fired”, “here’s that Trump Tower meeting” over and over again until it just ends. This is a case where I don’t know how to tell this story in an interesting way, but I do know how to tell it in an uninteresting way, and it’s this. Totally lifeless and moves like a long walk to the grave. I couldn’t help but chuckle anytime someone in this worried about the public not trusting the FBI, as if they don’t have a well recorded history of heinous shit that they haven’t and will never face consequences for.

Comey was a good guy, Comey loved his job, Comey believed in justice, Comey this, Comey that. Comey saved a cat from a tree. You get my point. This is a very superficial story about a moment in time that had a lot of depth to it, depths that there was no interest in considering.
