A24 is to cinema what cracking open a cold one is to the boys.
It Comes At Night is definitely a slow burn, but when it heats up you'll probably forget to breathe for a while.
This movie shares a lot of the same DNA as The Invitation, one of my favorite movies of 2016. They're both claustrophobic, intense thrillers with small casts and even smaller budgets.
Even with those limitations, I was still able to have one of my best movie-watching experiences of the year.
The only thing I can really complain about this movie is that the horror and thriller elements don't mesh as well as they could have. I can definitely sympathize with people who don't like the movie for that reason.
