started watching this as a gag for no one ("wouldn't it be sooo funny if i watched this movie yet again") and just ended up watching the whole damn thing. for my money, the most stunning and true to life portrait of familial and domestic abuse i've ever seen. deeply triggering this time around, maybe because it's the first watch where i've since come to terms with my own history of abuse in old relationships, or maybe because i'm currently 10,000 feet in the air where everything's a little more emotionally affecting. one time on a plane i sobbed through Southpaw. i don't even remember what that movie's about. i know it's got an Eminem song. can't imagine that's what did me in
