“Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” is essentially a comic book brought to life! It captures the characters precisely and brings them on a fun, colorful adventure. Casting choices are spot-on, adding to the dynamics throughout the film. Gorgeous animation, smart writing, and splashes of creativity make this one shine. The best thing is that there’s something for everyone to like here. It respects its audience and goes boldly with humor, spunk, and emotion. Even with Lord and Miller producing, I was still surprised to see the breadth and depth put into this project. It manages to act as a natural extension of the comic book form and enhance this aesthetic in ways that other superhero films have failed to do. A greater urban feel for the city and authentic incorporation of diversity work in this one’s favor to support the overall story and themes. While the soundtrack is a mixed bag, the sound and score work well enough here. Hands down this is the best Spider-Man film since “Spider-Man 2”!
