“Sometimes, to survive, you must become more than you were programmed to be.”
To be the animated film of the year which packs the most soul and heart, in the same year the Inside Out sequel came out. That’s something.
Decided against my new-found rule to stay away from animated films as much as possible, given the unanimous praise online. And, it was worth it. Totally. The animation is fantastic. The colors really pop. The heart-touching narrative that is brimming with soul & heart, elevated by the earnest efforts of a brilliant voice cast (shoutout to Lupita Nyong'o and Pedro Pascal; loved Mark Hamill as the grizzly bear, lol), is sure to leave you with a lump in your throat.
An instantly adorable film about love, parenthood, benevolence and togetherness, that is universally appealing to all age demographics; how each and every animated film should be.
