what a masterful work of misanthropic philosophy.
i remember reading hiroshima by john hersey in sixth grade and i remember how the vivid descriptions of the horrors that took place haunted me. even now, years later, certain sentences and paragraphs remain burned into my memory, haunting me still. if that is the impact of just a few words on a page, then i shudder at the thought of baring responsibility for such mass destruction. to alter the course of humanity, to shatter it to bits and then be forced to grapple with the fragments left behind, ashes disintegrating through bloodstained fingertips. evil is born from selfishness and humans are the most selfish of all.
