Movie #381
Review:
I should lead off here stating that I'm a big Spider-Man fan. I was reading and collecting the comics back in the 1990's. I've seen most of the movies that came out after that and he's probably my second favorite superhero. I didn't catch this one in the theater like I wanted as I was ingrained in my horror movie watching and when going to the cinema, there always seem to be something in genre that I would see instead. Even one of my good friends, who isn't a comic book fan, said I needed to see this.
Lucky for me, Jaime loves this movie. She has seen it quite a few times. It also is on our poster for the Top 100 on the Internet Movie Database. We decided to check it out together and I'll be honest, I love it. It was interesting to watch it together as I could fill in back-story information involving Peter A. Parker and Peter B. Parker along with what I knew about some of the other Spider-Man characters. There was still quite a bit that I'm not sure of. That doesn't effect this movie at all though.
This is a fun watch. I think it is entertaining for children. The visuals are amazing and I can see why it won awards. There is a feel to it as well that is in line with a comic book. It works even more with the different characters from different universes staying in line as they merge. I was quite impressed with that to be honest. The theories with physics they use fascinates me and is in line with some of my beliefs as well.
Other than that, I think the voice acting was great across the board. The only hang up would be Jake Johnson playing himself, but he made me laugh and it works for that version of Peter Parker/Spider-Man. This is a good movie for sure and worth a viewing, even if just for the visuals.
My Rating: 8.5 out of 10
