Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse has heart in spades, it’s story hits all the right (if not slightly predictable) beats, it loves its characters, it respects its audience, and ask you to go on the journey being told. The creators clearly want to tell a story with and for the fans of the property, while also not excluding the general audience and still introducing Miles Morales to the world. They know the world they created and the world the film will be released in.
The film is gorgeous, it’s animation is some of the best you’ll see, and it’s made with stunning precision. The blend of styles is jaw dropping. This is filmmaking at its finest.
I. Love. This. Movie. And that’s not the kid who grew up sleeping in Spider-Man sheets talking, that’s the cinephile who is told he “watches too many movies and doesn’t like anything” talking.
