Spider-Man Spider-Man Did what nobody's ever can Animation, blew my mind His film's truly one of a kind Look out! Here comes the completely-out-of-the-blue-really-unexpected-best-animated-film-of-the-year-MAN!!
(I sat for too long trying to come up with a finale to my little parody song, and that's the best I came up with.) Alright enough playing around, lets get on with the review.
I remember back on a time when I heard about this, called it a cheap cash grab by Sony Animation, which if I am being honest is one of my least favorite animation companies. But then I saw that first trailer, and I was hooked. Straight up, no joke, the art style alone sold me on the film. Then when I saw some of my favorite Spider-People I was ready to dive head in. And I was not disappointed.
So the story is pretty much laid out in the title, the Spider-Verse is opened up by one of the Kingpin's schemes and now there are a bunch of Spider-People from different dimensions. And the plot is way more interesting than even my big-point explanation.
The action is top notch, and the comedy is too, and the characters are all excellent. It is definitely cool to a see a story from Miles Morales and not another Peter Parker story. Also, I loved Gwen Stacy in this, like a lot. I don't know exactly why, but she was by far my favorite character in this. Her scenes just hit me the right way.
This blew me away, albeit not as much as some, I wouldn't say this is the best film of the year, but it is very high up there. This is really really great.
P.S. I can't wait for this to get snubbed at the Oscars this year.
