THE ROOM NEXT DOOR features a beautiful duet between Moore & Swinton, a typically swoony score from Iglesias, and Almodóvar’s customarily colorful design in a story that treats death and life with dignity and respect. So why does it feel so slight? More sweetly melancholic than deeply emotional. Not sure if that’s to the film’s credit or not, but it didn’t fully connect for me despite all the great work on display.
