Lovely clothes, lovely music, lovely lighting, lovely performance from Keira Knightley, but.... the whole just kind of sits there, doesn't it? The screenplay is woefully surface-level, leaving it entirely to the actors to give anything any weight. The whole thing feels like a first draft, like a spec film made to secure financing for the real thing, that will surely offer more depth and life to the characters and the city (this is a terribly underused time and place to tell stories about), except that it's the real thing.
