The buddy-odd-couple type action comedy is a missed genre that Hollywood just doesn’t give money to anymore. This was fairly decent. I don’t know if Gosling and Crowe have an onscreen chemistry that totally worked for me. A few humorous moments here and there but not a whole lot. The entire Detroit vehicle mystery tie-in with the porno mystery fell flat and I honestly didn’t give a shit about any of that and Kim Basinger’s role or her “motives”. Margaret Qualley is great in the small amount of screen time she gets. Angourie Rice is a star and hopefully gets more work.
I mainly watched this because I wanted to give another Ryan Gosling comedic style role a chance after seeing how great he is in Barbie, but sadly this was no Ken.
