i've watched la la land like a dozen of times already but i still get to notice tiny details i've missed with my previous viewings. i just noticed how mia pointed out that jazz is the type of music people talk over to on restaurants and public places then seb asserted that it actually is one of the reasons why it is dying in the first place. then, a couple of scenes later, mia actually listened to the jazz instrumental while people in a restaurant were talking over it which then prompted her leap of faith to leave her boyfriend and chase seb aaghh. it's so perfect. this movie is the reason why i love film making in the first place. it was my gateway film. i don't know if it was the colors, the music, the plot, or the escapism but i for sure didn't regret watching it three years ago just at the perfect time.
