Watched in IMAX!
Oppenheimer was, to put it in the simplest of terms, incredible. It hasn't left my mind since I watched it on Sunday, I just truly haven't found the words for a proper review until now.
Going into my viewing of this, I had no knowledge of the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer. I have never been interested in war movies of any kind, but this captivated me in a way I didn't anticipate. Cillian Murphy absolutely bodies his role, and I'm hopping on his Oscar campaign train as I type this. He deserves it. Robert Downey Jr., Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, and Matt Damon were also some acting highlights. Nolan's camera work is simply stunning, and the editing adds another level to this film. The way the background shakes and the people stomping blur together into a chaotic roar as Oppenheimer is in mid speech? Cinema. The bomb test? My eyes were glued to the screen. Oppenheimer showcased the sheer amount of effort a group of people put into filmmaking (looking at you, Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers and the like).
My only tiny gripes about film are the way the story was told in the beginning, and the sound mixing at times. Other than that? Flawless. Go see this film if you get a chance to, seriously.
And for a silly thing, of course: imagine being Dylan Arnold and having two After movies and Oppenheimer on your resumé
