Very torn because while I love the look, texture and flow of the film like I did when it came out, I find myself disconnected emotionally from the film. I feel like what I get out of the teasers is what I really want. The relationship aspect feels kinda bland and the theme of following your dreams feels overly simplified. I think the end does a great job at attempting to complicate this with the idea of one door opening leading to one door closing but huge chunks of this feel so phony and cheesy with how much adoration there is for LA and this kind of lifestyle. It doesn't really change that the film is beyond well made and does work overwhelmingly well as a musical. The restraint on the music numbers really does a lot for me. If there were endless numbers instead of a few built around the same feeling, this could have been much worse.
