Kevin Smith may well be my favourite discovery of the year. His debut film 'Clerks' was an audacious low-budget drama presenting a day in the life of a two shop clerks. I thoroughly enjoyed that film and the same can be seen said for 'Chasing Amy'. The film is full of charming performances and brilliant pin point dialogue. It goes without saying that Kevin Smith really is a fantastic writer. His writing is honest, sympathetic and most importantly believable. It says a lot when I struggle to think of a single dull or boring moment in a two hour long dialogue driven film.
The film has plenty of laughs but also has a lot to say on various subjects such as gender roles, relationships and friendships. I found there was a lot to relate to and some scenes were so sincere and truthful that they made my heart warm. 'Chasing Amy' is another very good Kevin Smith film and I can't wait to delve into the rest of his filmography.
