I head cannon this one hard, and literally forget the conflict every time I watch. Sebastian and Mia are still in love and dancing in incredible suits/dresses. The skies are always supernatural colors, and everything else is bright primaries. This isn't a bittersweet movie. You can't convince me otherwise.
Emma Stone can express with her eyes like no one in the bizz, and her chemistry with Gosling is perfect. I equally like their conflict and romance. The music is great. I sing the opening to the opener in the shower often. "Summer Sunday nights, we'd sink into our seats," is a very me line.
