Moana and part of her tribe is on a quest in search for a lost forbidden island and along they met Maui in a task that will cost their fortune and lives.
I think the first Moana is one of the better animated films in recent memory with Miranda signature and memorable sing along tracks that are all hits. Going along with the sequel I’m a bit skeptical since I feel a lot of the animations are hit and miss recently but remain excited because I’m a fan of Auli’l Cravalho as a talent and her take on the iconic Moana in this series. Can this sequel be compelling as the first we will find out now.
Let me give out the positives and I feel Cravalho vocals and performance remains as affective as the first and here she has a lot to do with the Moana character especially her getting mature in this one. The Rock as Maui is solid and has a musical number here that was nice. The visuals is great but some felt wonky.
Now let me give out the negatives and that I feel the music here is pretty weak and the 2nd act really loses a bit of the charm and that’s the biggest problem about this one and that me as an adult I really got used to animated movies since I was a child. This was totally made for children and for the children’s eyes only because me as an adult I felt this was fine but doesn’t add a lot of texture to its narrative as the first and that’s it’s major issue.
Moana 2 is a fun time in the movies and if you a parent who have kids, you may enjoy this movie but I overall feel mixed about this movie but If you want an easy time this thanksgiving weekend. I highly recommend it!
