Jesse Eisenberg can write some great dialogue.
A Real Pain uses the concept of a "travel pair" to tell a story about family, history, and heritage. Eisenberg's words were complemented by impeccable timing by the sharp performances by both he and Kieran Culkin. The spoken words per minute between THOSE two were certainly not lost on me.
Between the comedy lines, the emotional beats hit well. I love how Eisenberg was afraid to portray two males bonding by expressing themselves and being emotional. It greatly helps the tone of this movie, which is as humorous as it is moving.
