Perkins has impeccable visual taste and atmosphere (though the music cues are thuddingly unsubtle), but I find myself not engaging with his stories as much as I want to, despite all those lovely nods to Silence of the Lambs and The Shining. Also, I somehow was not aware that Nic Cage was in this, and thought he kind of broke the movie a little.
And … I found myself wishing those silver balls would fly through the air and drill into people’s heads.
