Rated R historical drama is part of the biggest summer movie event since Endgame. Didn’t participate in Barbenheimer but this is a staple in the world of film. People started to notice how funny it is that an upbeat fantasy comedy about a doll and a dramatic tragedy about the “father of the atomic bomb” were releasing on the same day and it turned out to be such a realization that millions of people were compelled to see both movies, on the same day, without leaving the theater. Insane.
The movie itself, I liked it. Definitely very well made. Incredible score, and the acting is obviously impeccable. The Trinity scene was amazing in IMAX, along with the scenes of Oppenheimer’s visions. Was pretty worn out by the end though, and I don’t have any urge to rewatch this anytime soon. Baffled more by the Barbenheimer trend than even the movie itself. This is the most packed a theater has been in a long time, and I feel like I’ve said that a lot over the last year or so with things like Across The Spider-Verse and No Way Home releasing.
Just because I didn’t see Barbie today doesn’t mean I’m not seeing it in a few days… as a double feature with something else. 😏
