What if Tony Scott made an Oscar movie? This played so much better for me on a second viewing, and I'll happily go to bat for the unhinged swings Jacques Audiard takes in "Emilia Perez" over some of the year's "better" features. *Strawman voice* I already know some of the top critical minds will loudly proclaim that "Emilia Perez" is bad. I'll have the "I disagree" gif ready for them.
