There's one word to describe how I felt during this movie:
Unphased.
I felt absolutely nothing for the entirety of this movie. (apart from Defying Gravity obviously)
I genuinely don't know what happened, 2 of my top 4 are musicals, I was fully expecting to love this and I'm so jealous of anyone who does love it, which is basically everyone on planet earth.
That being said, the performances are undeniably great, and the songs as a whole are pretty good, but it just all got lost somewhere but I cant put my finger on it.
I can't point out anything I dislike about Wicked and I can't think of any flaws either, I was just an empty void for the entire movie, which coincidentally, is EXACTLY how I felt about the directors previous films In The Heights and Crazy Rich Asians.
AGAIN that's excluding Defying Gravity which was one of the best things I've seen in a while, the full body goosebumps went crazy.
I wanna go watch West Side Story 2021.
