The cool thing about the original Texas Chain Saw Massacre (for its time at-least) is how it's actually not that violent, and leaves most of the gore and brutality to the viewer's imagination, instead subjecting them to observe a disturbingly-dysfunctional family of killers and maniacs from the perspective of a group of normal people, all grounded in reality with a palpable sense of uncertainty and hysteria to make the horror as plausible as possible while also being unbelievably morbid and terrifying.
