“This is America. Kidnapping a Christian is worse than harboring a fugitive.”
the 4th cornetto film. you guys this movie fucks so hard it’s unreal. once again, paul is bisexual and it was hot whenever sigourney weaver said fag. i had to watched it sober cause my edible never hit, but i got to appreciate it more which was nice. genuinely really funny and i enjoy the characters a lot. really good vfx work on paul, never doubted he wasn’t there for a second. some good emotion, that goodbye with paul made me sad cause he was their friend. seriously though watch this i actually really like it.
]]>i really loved the makeup work in this, especially for the time this came out this work is amazing. really unsettling i enjoyed it thoroughly. i liked the plot, the idea of the the doctor cutting off faces to save his daughter while she feels she’s being used like one of his animal experiments. love the ending too, her freeing all the other lab animals to kill him.

someone working on this really liked mary elizabeth winstead’s feet. really good performances from everyone, i didn’t know john goodman could be scary. emmett’s death was really shocking and i liked it. i didn’t like anything after michelle escaped the cellar, it wasn’t great. why did abram’s try to connect this to a completely unrelated film.
]]>“Good morning, Mister. M. Looks like you could use a cupcake!”
a middle aged creep’s life starts to fall apart so he blames the annoying child at his school. loved the themes of ethics and morals throughout the film. i especially love the scene where jim is trying to lecture tracy about doing the right thing right after coming back from cheating on his wife. reese witherspoon is so fucking good in this, great performance. i love the angsty mean lesbian child she’s the best. paul might be the greatest fictional character. him rushing through his whole speech while monotone and fearful then ending it off with the biggest smile is the hardest i’ve laughed in weeks. i loved this movie, want to watch again soon.
]]>“You're a pack of vultures at the feast! Knives out, beaks bloody.”
i fucking love mysteries so much and this is still one of all time my favorites, everything here is so remarkable. all the performance are perfect and spot on, i mean if i said all my favorites it would be the entire cast. the script is near perfection with the small drops of information we receive as we follow along marta through this whole death aftermath. it’s just such an inventive and fun way to tell a mystery. the reveal of how the death really happened is fucking fantastic and has me jumping up and down with excitement. i love all the little details i’m so happy this is as good as i remember it being.
]]>i enjoyed rick’s character very much, he’s a good guy and i like that about him. not much to say, great film and i was invested but it’s not exactly my thing.
]]>this shit happened to me in atlanta. woof man, this was not as good as i remember at all. let me start with the good, big fan of the visuals presented. i highly enjoyed the solid neon colors lighting and pallet, bringing out a taste of a giallo during scenes. i love the use of mirrors here, it gives the film a very distinct identity and seeing the characters swap places on them is always fun. the costuming is brilliant, you can tell how much care and effort was put into sandie’s outfits to get them right. i really like imagery in the climax where sandie was stalking down el with a knife on those glass stairs.
now the bad, this feels like a bit of a mess. did not enjoy the dialogue in this at all, wright usually is very distinct with his dialogue even when he cowrites with someone so it’s odd to me how bad and forced this script feels. i didn’t care for eloise, i was bothered with her when she was a quiet 60s loving fashion girl and i didn’t feel any sympathy towards her when she was an actual schizophrenic. that second act twist makes me feel wierd and i’m not sure what i’m supposed to take from it. turning a victim into an antagonist feels odd, people who are likely smarter than me have probably gotten into why it feels so bad. like i don’t know what the intended emotion was supposed to be. the messaging doesn’t feel like it’s a left up to audience type thing, it just feels like they didn’t have actual stances to take.
john is cute, i get what they were going for. sweet boy who is there for our troubled protagonist. but the thing is, his motivations make no sense. we have no reason to believe that john is in love with eloise besides that she’s hot and was quirky before her psychiatric break. from his perspective she’s tweaking the fuck out about to stab a classmate and he just checks in like she’s being a bit distant and off. this fucking wish fulfillment happy ending is so awful. it feels so out of place and is not justified even slightly after the movie built to nothing. hopefully edgar gets some juice back for his next project.
]]>there was a lot of racism and bothersome children. beautiful animation and drawn backgrounds. i hope the bear child dies in a fire because he’s was unbearable (hehe)
]]>“You remind me of my mom, Louise. And with the hat, it's kind of like you two have met. I keep forgetting that you never did.”
i love the belcher family and their antics and this was just a longer belcher adventure. so charming and genuine i like this movie a whole lot. needed more songs and some animation stuff looks strange. i dislike the gradual character shift of louis from fun sarcastic evil troublemaker to tired sarcastic women, it doesn’t affect this movie but it bothers me in show. it was funny to see grover crawling and it made me very happy to see marshmallow voguing.

“You think this is the real Quaid? It is!”
this movie fucks so hard, i really think this solidified that paul verhoeven is one of my favorite directors. i’m obsessed with how this movie fucked with my mind. i didn’t know what was real and what wasn’t. it’s just such a great narrative! i love the premise of being an undercover agent who’s so deep undercover he started to fight against his previous self in order to support the people who needed help. that twist really caught me off guard and was so effective! i love the allusions to the lower people of mars being oppressed by the big corporations taking their necessities to live. lot of that in verhoeven‘s work and i’m always for it! i am so infatuated with this world.
such incredible stylist choices for the people, and don’t even get me started on the practical effects. rob bottin you beautiful bastard, every single puppet, prosthetic, and animatronic looks so flawless and perfect. i’m obsessed with the world and the use of miniatures for the blue screen backgrounds alongside the gigantic lived in sets. the scale of the world is gigantic and i want to explore every part of it, it all makes me feel again. probably my favorite visual was the ceo kicking over his fishtank leaving them to die from suffocating echoing the way he wants to treat these people he has power over, he sees them as less than human. i want to watch this one again already, absolutely obsessed.
]]>“Vengeance won't change the past, mine or anyone else's. I have to become more. People need hope. To know someone's out there for them.”
yeah this is it, this is the batman film. god what a fucking gorgeously shot movie, so many distinct and memorable shots are burnt into my head. i love the use of out of focus scenes to entice the audience to want to see more of what is happening. giacchino’s score is perfect, it’s so powerful and compliments the film beautifully. such a fantastically written noir/thriller that i feel keeps up a very compelling mystery throughout. the batsuit looks really good, the exposed chin had some getting used to. the fight choreography during the flooding of the garden was great! gotham looks absolutely disgusting, wet, and real. it has such beautiful gothic architecture as well making it look so tangible.
every single performance in this film is remarkable. each actor brought their best material and all of them are amazing, if i named all my favorites i be listing the whole cast. i really like the dynamic and relationships between selina and batman, the way they played off each other was great. i love the shift when batman realizes riddler isn’t talking to him about him being bruce wayne, the slow head turn and eye contact is so good. i love batman’s arc in this film, the change from a vengeance to being the hero and light gotham needs. visually guiding the people of gotham with his flare literally becoming a beacon they look to in the darkness, it’s inspiring.
]]>what was mac shaving? did not enjoy this one very much, i remember loving this movie and on rewatch it just didn’t do it for me really. i was not a fan of the first act really at all, i understand the purposeful misdirection to gear you up for how powerful the predator is. this foe can slaughter all these strong confident men with weapons who just destroyed a whole small army, the vietcong allusion and all
that. but i just didn’t care, the gore and gun violence just washed over me mostly. some okay performances with elpidia carrillo and carl weathers doing good. nice score and the makeup work and prosthetics on the predator are very fantastic. just fine i suppose.
“This is overwhelming, John. Are these characters autoerotica?”
why does the little boy from the beginning look so gender ambiguous, i know like 5 enby people who look just like him. fucking holy shit dude, i just remember this film being good when i was younger. it completely took me unaware with how incredible every second was. i am a passionate lover of practical effects so i want to start there. this film is the near perfect medium between the most beautiful practical puppets and animatronics by stan winston’s team and such smart use of early VFX to enhance moments that needed that extra push. you can see phil tippett’s go motion work being put into the VFX model of all the dinosaurs, it looks really fucking good still despite the lesser graphical detail. the amount of iconography in this movie is striking.
i think the tyrannosaurus rex escape is one of the best scenes ever put to film. every single aspect about the scene is perfection. the use of piercing silence and sound, the weather, the intensity and fear, the character work, and the stunning animatronics coupled with great lighting to make the t-rex look incredible. it’s such an incredible example of having all the elements of filmmaking come together to present a scene that leaves the hairs on your neck standing up. i love the horror elements in this film, its all so well done and has me frozen to my seat and the carnivorous dinosaurs in this are horrific at points.
on the complete opposite spectrum, i love the use of wonder and awe in this film. the scenery is so beautiful matched with john williams’ phenomenal score. these fucking sets are so good, i want to explore this entire place. spielberg does a phenomenal job of capturing that childlike sense of curiosity and excitement when filming these sets. this has such a good script holy hell, i love the character work in this. i adore how we the audience slowly see grant warm up to the kids, starting small with checking on lexi when she falls at a point. then to the bigger actions of saving their lives and taking care of them as the venture to the compound, its just so sweet. i’m fucking obsessed man this was so good, i wanna watch the behind the scenes of this for years now. one of my new favorites.
]]>the story flowed much better on a rewatch, just a really fucking beautiful and great film.
]]>“Bottling up past trauma can lead to inadequate coping strategies in later life, apparently.”
what a great fucking comedy, hadn’t seen this one in years and it’s better than i remember. it’s an edgar wright movie, perfect and motivated editing plus the beautiful cinematography. it’s all so good, not even mentioning the incredible script with phenomenal dialogue. the choreography is so good, such great fight scenes with creative blocking. i love the look of and the incredibly done VFX behind the blanks. the perfect blend of real prosthetics and digital work, they look so good. i love the characters, gary is such a broken man and seeing him try to relive the best night of his life after exiting the hospital is really effective emotionally. i love andy, he’s a fucking tank of a man who still wants to see this good in his old friend even after all he’s done. just a really fucking great film.
]]>so bad it’s bad, probably would’ve been a better idea to watch this high as fuck.
]]>so genuine and so human. i love the camera work holy shit, the tight suffocating feeling putting you right into the environment and thus the characters minds. such beautiful colors paint the whole film it is gorgeous. great use of sound both on the soundtrack, the great score, and the diegetic music. faye wong is fucking incredible in this role, her character work is phenomenal and the way she carries herself and moves is full of such energy. i want to watch her for hours, who knew a home invasion could be so incredibly charming. definitely would love to rewatch!
]]>what a fucking killer script, every dialogue exchange had me excited for what was next. i love the use of long takes here they’re so motivated and are such great opportunities for the actors to just act. cate blanchett is outstanding here, she gives such a good performance that i want to watch lydia tár’s life for days. i do love as the storyline progresses all of tár’s past sins begin to show up and slowly tear her down from the literal pedestal she is placed upon. loved the ending, it was fucking hilarious and a great pay off. was not as griped by this film as many other were, perhaps it’s just not for me all to much.
]]>“No. I know this guy a long time. I've known him since 9-11. You remember? I was, like, ‘Oh, shit, 9-11, I gotta get high.’”
i fucking enjoy seth mcfarlane’s acting and writing style when he really tries. great jazzy score, i appreciate that in mcfarlanes work. ted looks fantastic and tangible at all times, great vfx. a few fun editing sequences and competent camera work, like above your average apatow pitt. i genuinely adore john and teds relationship. maybe it’s just nostalgia but i really like this movie and i think it’s well made, looks good, has a great soundtrack, and like 50% of the jokes hit. it’s a great time.
]]>my favorite christmas film i’ve seen this year. such a beautiful film, the shot composition and motivated cinematography had me wanting to cry because of how stunning it was. i want to frame every single beautiful shot and put it on my wall to admire
them. such an incredible job from everyone involved, lily-rose depp is phenomenal here and gives one of my favorite performances of the year. bill skarsgård is fantastic here too, i am obsessed with the visual design of orlok and his beyond evil abilities. willem dafoe as eberhart is wonderful as well but when has dafoe ever given a bad performance.
i love the color palette of this film, such beautiful muted winter colors that pop so much against the deep shadows and lack of light. the sets were so good, it made me so happy to see them actually use hundreds of real rats in scenes bringing a real sense of tangibility. my only real problem is that i’m just not a fan of the narrative, and that’s even beyond this film. i find the dracula novel is hard to translate to film and the story always ends up feelings but disjointed with me getting lost in the characters and where they are emotionally and physically. but that’s it, i loved this to death and want to see it again badly!
]]>i loved that count orlok walked around the town holding that big ass coffin. great imagery with fun use of shadows, i liked it.
]]>this movie would’ve gone crazy in rumble seating. this little shit tried to bring the girl her the ticket, the ticket that she purposely left and then he proceeded to loose it. although this movie can look good at points, especially when lit well, it still has that strange ps3 face and janky body movement syndrome where it takes me out at chunks. i like the conductor and the steven tyler elf is uncomfortable. it was fun christmas adventure movie with a phenomenal score that i am nostalgic for.
]]>“Two? Make it three. I’m not driving.”
this little twerp didn’t learn a thing last year about wishing your family dead. less child friendly and fun traps this time and more fucking dismembering saw traps that brutalize marv and harry just for kevin’s sick and twisted enjoyment. i wish i was the pigeon lady so badly. didn’t feel like a lot of the charm of the first carried over but that’s just me. needed far more tim curry to make this picture whole.
]]>“No clothes on anybody. Sickening!”
what a very cute and fun christmas movie, macaulay culkin is acting his fucking ass off. i adore the scene of kevin and marley talking in the church and kevin giving the adult advice cause he’s too preoccupied with adult thinking to see the obvious. love the scene of the wet bandits getting brutalized by an eight year old. some funny stuff here and the score is incredible. i had a great time and i see why people love this, some other john hugh’s movies are more my speed but i really like this!
]]>kinda fun spectacle film with some great sam raimi charm sprinkled throughout. the first 20 minutes has some sauce to it. the early 1900s inspired filming feels fun and motivated. i like the scene of transition to full color, it harkens a sense of familiarity to the original while doing a good different thing. horrible green screen throughout, the vfx they needed for this job weren’t there yet. i loved the scenes with scary elements to tie you back to raimi’s fun direction, more kids need to have fear in them. some cool visuals, my favorite was the burnt in tear stains from the water. mila kunis is putting 100 percent effort into this material, she’s got a good evil laugh. joey king was in this so automatic zero, it was funny when she asked james frank to make her walk. the ending was fine, i like the big face.
]]>This review may contain spoilers.
this was a significant jump in quality from the first two. some really fun action here and the scale of this one feels large and it’s handled great! i love team sonic to death, they’re all fantastic with knuckles being my favorite. i love shadow, but i think keanu reeves does a pretty poor job. his performance is so lack-luster i wish he was more into the role. however, shadow is still so fucking cool so it does not effect his character extremely. jim carrey steals the show this time being 2 eggmen, he plays off himself very well. wish there was more for doctor stone to do, but i loved the doomed yaoi with them. i feel the jokes work great in this one, leading to lots of genuine laughs. the dance sequence with the eggmen was fucking hilarious and went on for the perfect amount of time. simply put this, movie is really fun and an incredible time. the pacing feels near perfect and all the fluff of the first two is mostly gone. very big fan of this one, want to see again!
]]>you can feel joe dante’s love and passion for classic creature features and zany cartoon antics through every frame of this film. the mogwai eating the chicken is fucking nasty and disgusting, i love it. the puppet work and practical effects work on gizmo and the rest of the gremlins is fucking phenomenal holy shit. they all look absolutely incredible, i love these ghouls so much. i adore the antics of the gremlins with all my heart, them watching snow white and being at the bar are the best scenes in the film. the dead dad monologue feels extremely out of place, it’s delivered beautifully by kate’s actress but feels weird and awkward. the characters are pretty weak, billy is the worst caretaker of pets i’ve seen in a movie probably. wonderful christmas creature feature with a great score, what’s not to like!
]]>this movie really picks up like crazy in its second half. definitely worse than i remember but it’s much better than the first and it’s still very enjoyable. some fun action sequences are presented in the latter half, the death egg robot battle, the skiing sequence, and the temple fight being standouts. jim carrey as eggman is so good in these movies, he’s fucking electric. i still love his relationship with lee majdoub’s doctor stone who is also great. another notable performance is natasha rothwell, she’s fucking so funny and makes so many of the human centered scenes good. those end credits are so beautiful as well. nothing terrific here but i like sonic and these movies are really cute and keep me entertained.
]]>the snow paints such a beautiful identity for this film. i don’t have many thoughts on this one, really great script with some fantastic performances. really funny and i could listen to these characters talk for days.
]]>This review may contain spoilers.
big film for people who want to love so deeply that become one with the other. i need to preface this with the fact that i was physically and emotionally exhausted going into this movie and i want to rewatch this to take it in more. great performance from daniel craig, obviously. the translucent imagery of lee wanting to embrace eugene is easily one of my favorite visuals i’ve seen all year. loved the scene in the jungle where they become one after drinking the plant. however, i was not that emotionally invested in the relationship between the two overall. there are some fantastic beats between them but to me i never really felt that connection everyone else seems to talking about.

“Relax your crap, Foghorn. I’m working on it.”
these missions really feel impossible. do you think they taught ethan hunt to do magic tricks in the imf? such a fantastic looking film, so much style, flair, and creative cinematography here that has my brain twitching. such great low angle shots to bring you into the paranoia and tension. plenty of the classic de palma split diopter shot, you can so feel he made this and it rocks. that fucking green eye mask reveal was so good and the glasses pov shots were some of my favorites. i love the opening credits make it feel like a TV show intro, which tracks with its source material, while also gearing you up for the first big twist. thinking this was gonna be an easy job with jokes. this script is so fucking good and filled with so much phenomenal cat and mouse play. my eyes have been opened, tom cruise is fantastic in this film. i adore the final act on the train, you really feel the speed of it and the intensity of the scene it incredible. i wanna watch this movie and all the sequels right now
]]>“The real Lucy would never say that.”
this one feels more kiddy and less universal. like the original does a great job appealing to kids and adults who just enjoy lego but this one feels more catered to a younger audience. that doesn’t necessarily make it bad but it feels a little alienating at some points. i like the commentary about loving the people around you and rejecting toxic masculinity with rex and emmet. not all but lots of the charm from the first one carries over with jokes and fun visual gags.
i like the bruce willis running gag but then there’s a vampire who is a 7 year too late twilight joke. some great emotional moments in this one too. when lucy is honest and tells emmet she likes him for him with his immediate reaction thinking she’s been brainwashed, that was a great sad scene. i like the brother and sister reconcile after the everything‘s not awesome song, i enjoy most the songs here too. the stuff with rex and emmet remind me of scott pilgrim and older scott pilgrim from takes off and i wanted to share.
]]>“Did you fuck my mom, Santa Claus? Did you fuck my mom? Did you fuck her?” Did you fuck my fucking mom!?” Did you fuck my mom Santa!?”
some of the all time best bits from the show are in this episode, i had trouble breathing cause i was laughing so hard. mac and charlie’s poor while trash christmas traditions are so funny and it led to an oddly sweet final shot. the connection of people with each other over a holiday is nice, even if it’s these fucked up creatures. the rankin bass stopmotion inspired segment is really funny and the DSi systems in the background made me nostalgic.
]]>it was pretty okay. so much fat here could’ve been trimmed for a smoother experience but i guess they needed to drag it out to justify that part two. some really great sets, when they used sets. the blue screen and strong bloom lighting really kill some otherwise good shots cause of how bad they look. the musical numbers were all pretty infectious with energy. “popular” and “dancing through life” being standouts with their fun choreography and energy. i really enjoyed the editing on “what is this feeling?” i wish there was more creative editing throughout. i dislike ariana grande, but she was great in this role. the fake activist who’s incredibly rich and pretends to care for others is perfect for her. cynthia erivo was really great as well, what a voice she has. not exactly my cup of tea all around but i’m very happy people are enjoying a musical movie! hopefully we get some more out of this cause i fucking love musicals.

“I'm an insect who dreamt he was a man and loved it. But now the dream is over... and the insect is awake.”
the use of gore, decay, and fear within the narrative is completely perfect. the audience and the characters within the story feel the fear and disgust all at once pushing the emotional response further. the work from the practical effects and make up teams for this film are perfection. its all so tactile, real, and fucking disgusting. i find so much beauty in it’s disgusting nature, the scene of seth pulling off his nails to his absolute horror and that sense of true fear he feels when he realizes that something is deeply wrong. the slow physical transformation of seth to brundlefly coupled with the loss of his humanity and sanity. jeff goldblum gives his best performance in this film, he’s fucking outstanding. geena davis as well is incredible, the way she’s able to capture pure animalistic fear greatly helps elevate the film’s themes.
the score is so good, on this rewatch it stood out for being great at being complimentary when used for terror. on things i never noticed, in the second half of the film the fear of pregnancy is brought in. it’s completely great and fits perfectly with the themes of horror of the flesh and loosing control over one’s self. in this case her control on ridding the brundlefly offspring. the scene of ronnie screaming to dickhead that she wants it out of her now is brilliant. the end of this movie is just so beautiful. when the disgusting fusion of machine and brundlefly points the shotgun to his head, begging for ronnie to kill him. such an incredible scene that feels me wanting to scream and sob all at once. one of my personal favorite films ever this rewatch provided me with so much more to love.

“Still waving proudly to a parade which had long since passed her by.”
i haven’t been this awestruck by a film in such a way as this for a very long time. phenomenal doesn’t even begin to describe this one. i loved every second of this film, every step it took to show me what lead to joe being in that pool. gloria swanson as the norma desmond might be one of the best performances ever put to the screen. the way she commands the audience, drawing sympathy and fear all at once is unbelievable. that final scene of her far past her breaking point walking down the stairs and thanking the crew left me feeling aghast. breathtaking performances by the rest of the cast as well. incredible cinematography with one of the best scripts i’ve ever seen. i want to turn this picture right back on and watch it all over again, easily one of my new favorites ive ever seen.
]]>how delightful and silly! such eye popping animation showing of the animators sheer talent. i love that every character is just a huge fucking asshole and by the end alice is just fed up with it. love the queen of hearts to death.
]]>very cute! i enjoyed my time here significantly, some real wonderful character work for kenji and i love his parental relationship with the ghoul. fucking really good animation with some great stylization. fun action and most emotion beats really hit for someone with some rough family dynamics. wish there was more development for the antagonist cause i really enjoyed his moments. some scenes went on a little to long with me not caring for most of the subplots. this movie feels very by the number at points with its use of tropes. but i did enjoy the use of the found family and kenji’s reconnection with his father. definitely recommend this one.
]]>got to see this in imax, the way it was meant to be seen, and it was great! haven’t seen a film with visual effects work this perfect, with such fantastic shot composition in such a long time. this feels less like a simple narrative film and more an experience to have in a theater. some real good characters with some sublime performances. that ending really got me, loved cooper and murph’s relationship to pieces. i don’t think i loved it as much as everyone else does, some of the writing just wasn’t my thing. but i still really love it so that’s worth something.
]]>it feels hard to find the words for this one. the way it sweeps you up in its joyous emotion making you want to cry with happiness one moment. then leaving you cold with with a sense of emptiness and misery the next which also inducing tears. wandering the streets for years just to try to avoid yourself and what you became. such beautiful cinematography with such a perfect score. this film has some of the most genuine and heartbreaking performances put to screen. i really loved this one and desperately want to watch it again already.
]]>genuinely phenomenal creature work in this, the werewolves were great looking. perfect blend of beautiful practical effect work with CG enhancements. that’s it, that’s what was good. just the most bland boring and by the numbers low budget action movie i didn’t enjoy my time at all. bad characters, bad writing, poor action, just deflated and lame all around. the dead fire marshall’s last name was marshal, marshal marshall.
]]>This review may contain spoilers.
rachel zegler you are wonderful. did not care too much for this. i enjoyed the look of the technology, it was cool. just very by the numbers, i knew everything joke and beat before they came. killing off julian dennison’s character fucking neutered this movie like crazy, i was really frustrated with that decision. there needed to be more than just like 2 fun kills. fred durst was pretty fun in this and i hated our lead. just kinda not great movie.
]]>i hope mac and his family get dissected by the deep state. this is the best movie ever basically. i was afraid it was overhyped to be so bad its good but it lives up to its title. i couldn’t stop laughing and my jaw was on the fucking floor. those aliens were so genuinely horrific and made me uncomfortable. the rest of my review will be me listing the most insane shit that happened. the grotesque creatures dress like a fucking white america family and became citizens, what the shit. the most radical late 80s/early 90s dance party ever takes place at the bumpin mcdonald’s. unironically some of the best wheelchair bound person representation and it feels so normal and genuine. the father mac took a gun and there was a police standoff then a stray bullet exploded a car which killed eric. the aliens walk out of the depths of hell and bring him back to life. one of my new personal favorites of all time
]]>this movie is brilliant in its silliness. one of the most unique and entertaining animated films ever made. where to even start with how incredible it looks. the seam lines on the molded bricks are so good, the animation blur being real lego pieces. the way the pieces are lit make them look so tactile. the scruff and little imperfections make me wanna scream. wonderful cast of characters, emmet might be the best protagonist put to film. the confrontation between business and finn is just so perfectly done. i’ve loved this movie since the day it came out and will continue to cherish it forever.
]]>“Whatever you do, don’t fall asleep.”
langenkamp and englund give some really great performances. i really love the concept of this one. the one place you think you’re safe, your dreams, is where he gets you. some great gore of course, phenomenal makeup up on englund with some great practical effects. very good movie!
]]>jack torrence is fucking horrifying, so much anger and rage behind that barely put together facade of professionalism and normalcy. such incredible performances from the entire cast, nicholson and duvall give two of the best performances i’ve seen put to the screen. the amount of iconography this film holds is baffling, as if every frame is begging to be analyzed and examined. these tracking shots are mind boggling and look so fantastic. such perfect shot compositions and great use of slow and crash zooms it’s so good. incredible sound design and great foley on all the little micro noises. perfect score that makes me feel sick to my stomach just by listening to it. these sets are gigantic and look incredible.
the commentary on the slaughter of native americans by white colonizers was extremely strong and miserable. taking of their land in order to create a giant beautiful hotel which in turn stole their artwork and culture to compliment the beauty of the hotel. in the car ride over they talk about the colonizers having to eat each other during a blizzard. ullman discusses as the overlook hotel was being built native people tried to attack to stop the construction. the mention of the white mans burden when jack is drinking with lloyd also very much adds to this to this. really great pacing, fantastically drawn out scenes that leave you not bored but horrified of what’s to come. just such a fucking fantastic piece of film that makes me shiver with the pure brilliance and effort poured into it. he was always there and he always will be.
]]>i don’t care about baseball at all but i love women empowering one another. some real great character relationships in this one, all the actors are doing such a great job and i love the way they all interact with one another. madonna and rosie o’donnell are phenomenal in this as mae and doris, i love their relationship and the way they bounce off each other. jimmy and dottie have a great friendship, it’s good stuff to see him support her as a player. it was very nice to see kit have her moment in the sun after being in dottie’s shadow so long. i enjoyed it!
]]>the way spielberg is able to orchestrate the audiences’ heart to feel so passionately about these characters is truly remarkable. such great chemistry between the three lead kids, they bounce off each other phenomenally and are all great actors. the palpable excitement of elliot showing et the things he loves is so wonderful. et trying to fix the knife wound on the mike’s head is the cutest shit ever. an awe inspiring score that is just beyond incredible. my only real issues are some pacing hiccups towards the beginning that left me feeling checked out and the weirdly large amount of brand and pop culture references bothered me. i do think the tinkerbell moment was fantastic however and narratively made sense. i cried like a baby till there were no more tears left, such a great film.
]]>best movie i’ve ever seen, every time they started dancing i lost my mind laughing. there’s 12 of them, why don’t the 12 barbies just beat the evil queen to death. that monkey was so funny. the fucking parrot, he also has the wrong number of toes. parrots have 2 in the front and two in the back, zygodactyl. the villains got up and they danced away.
]]>“Go ahead and laugh, you guys, but if I ever find the bastards that did this, they’re dead meat.”
i like the use of the mall as a chasing ground for the characters, very fun premise. it’s a real time capsule of the 80s commercialism. i like the sound design and the voices of the robots and their designs are good. i liked the real tarantulas crawling on allison, then when it cut they were plastic toys that fell off her, good stuff. it was an okay 80s slasher.

]]>films that are truly special and deeply personal to me for a variety of reasons. each movie is accompanied by a small blurb on my it is so special to me specifically. (currently updating this list and each movies blurbs)
i am unsure if there will ever be another movie as important to me or as perfect to me as this one. this was the movie that made me realize i love films as a medium and that i wanted to pursue them as a career. the palpable style and sharp comedy of this movie alongside its beautifully creative action and lovable cast. i love every single second of this film and can quote it front to back. at the second, and most likely forever, this is my favorite movie.
i don’t know if they’re will ever be a movie like alien again. i’ve been enamored and fascinated by this film since i was a young kid, everything about it was completely captivating to me. the incredible cast, the unconventional lifecycle of this natural born killer, the nostromo’s incredible and lived in set, the mystery of LV-426. every aspect of it blends together to create the perfect sci-fi horror. i’ll love this film forever.
another contender to add to the perfect sequel category. this movie so effortlessly adds onto this incredible world established in the first film. turning this film into an action, sci-fi, horror was one of the best decisions ever made for a film. expanding on ripleys character and giving her newt as the perfect character for her to keep fighting and never give up is so incredible. the effects in this film are stuff of legends and the alien queen is so grotesque and life like, it’s so beautiful it makes me wanna cry.
a very personal great look into the artist process and that eerily specific feeling you are gonna run out of time without making a name for yourself and your art. an absolutely electric movie with some of the best songs i’ve ever heard in any movie. garfield is insane in this role and it should’ve won him the oscar. i hate biopics usually but this is something special.
few films have left me as shaken and glued to my seat as much as this one has. the intensity in this movie and of neiman pushing himself with fletcher, his emotionally abusive teacher who pushes him even harder than that. i love this movie to death, it might genuinely be perfect. absolutely gorgeous film and J.K. simmons in this role is maybe my favorite performance of all time.
spider-man into the spiderverse isn’t only just easily the best superhero film made ever, it might be my favorite animated piece of art to ever grace this world. it is unreal how incredible this movie is and how its impact changed the animation landscape for film. the style and character oozing from this film is quite honestly hard to put into words. absolutely spectacular.
this is what i consider to be one of the very few perfect sequels. this movie is just as electric as this first whilst building off all the momentum of the first flawlessly. this movie is just like those twitter clips of an animator showing off but instead of a 2 second clip it’s a whole two hour movie, unreally beautiful and impressive.
this is my father’s favorite movie, and thus his palpable love for this film trickled down to me. a million to one shot and he goes the distance for it. such an incredibly inspirational beautiful film with a just as inspirational and beautiful story of being made. every italian should get something out of this perfect film.
grotesque, beautiful, bloody, horrific. this is a horror movie. carpenter and bottin created the perfect movie monster with it’s abilities perfectly translated for us to ogle and marvel at. the perfect effects are truly just the beginning, the dread and sense of isolation you feel watching this masterpiece is unreal. you the audience feel that sense of dread and fear trying to see who is one of those things.
growing up a very important part of bonding with my father was seeing the newest MCU movie in theaters. he would constantly work so when we had time together we loved talking about the infinity saga and what each piece would lead to next. infinity war is something truly special. over 10 years of buildup to this near masterful movie, seeing the ending to this film with an audience and feeling that chill is something i’ll never forget.
