You wanna know my dirty secret? I always said how I loved La La land, how I loved the songs, how I loved the performances, how Moonlight robbed it, etc.
But… I never actually finished this movie…
I left it after their first kiss and paused it because I was getting tired and I had a test the next morning. And I procrastinated finishing this movie so much that it stopped appearing on my “Continue Watching” on Amazon Prime.
Tonight, after getting bored with no idea what to do, I finally decided to finish it (starting from the beginning cause I forgot).
And I already knew the ending, I knew it was sad and I knew that things won’t go how you want them to. I read social media so of course I ate up every spoiler every time.
But still… god damn it Damien. I fucking love you. You’re my new favorite filmmaker. Don’t let anyone tell you how Babylon was bad, I love you. I love all your movies. I’d kiss you right in the forehead and tell you you did a great job.
This movie made me happy, sad, sing, dance (kinda), cry and everything in between. City of stars is ingrained in my brain now. Someone in the crowd gave me a huge ear-to-ear smile the whole way through, A lovely night too, GOD DAMN IT I LOVE THIS MOVIE.
10/10. My words seriously can’t give this movie enough justice. Moonlight, you’re evil.
