"Prometheus stole fire from the gods and gave it to man. For this, he was chained to a rock and tortured for eternity."

Oppenheimer is the biographical picture of J. Robert Oppenheimer and also the birth of the atomic bomb and with this, the slow paced destruction of the world. A raw portrait of guilt and penitence of a “simple” man that was granted the great power of knowledge.

I haven’t really been a fan of Christopher Nolan, I don’t connect to any of his films and some of them I consider to be boring and even bland sometimes. They are creative, that is true, but he overuses bad techniques like explanatory dialogue, bad direction of actors and accreditation of other people jobs.

However, this is one of the less commercial products Nolan has given us the people, the other one being Dunkirk. And with “commercial” I refer to all of the other products that are so desperate for making the viewers feel confused made after Memento and Insomnia. I have to say that this one is more honest than the others.

For the people who like or are interested in the history of science, innovation and in general important scientists this is one of the greatest materials they could have. They have Oppie, Bohr, Einstein, and other important people.

The sequence of the detonation of the first atomic bomb is easily one of the greatest experiences I have had in theaters, the movie going silent for like three minutes after the detonation and watching Oppie appreciating his baby being born was beautiful. And after that the scene of Oppie giving his speech to Los Alamos’ people and seeing the reality being like burnt is amazing.

But the movie is three hours long… And the fact that you have to learn a whole lot of names, faces and personalities is so tedious, and there are characters that doesn’t do anything in all of the film and at the end they result being so important and crucial for the plot, it is even stressful.

Obviously everyone did outrageous performances from Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, RDJ, Florence Pugh, Matt Damon, and a lot of other characters that are portrayed in a great way thanks to a great cast.

It is far from being a bad or mediocre movie, just not my cup of tea.
