This was my first time seeing this in a few years, and I still love this movie. It’s definitely messier and more convoluted than I remember, but it rocks harder than hell in my opinion. I also forgot how much I love every villain here. Seriously, I might say this movie has the most underrated rogues’ gallery I can personally think of. I did find March less likable this time around, but I’d say that that actually makes it genuinely exciting and cool every time he does effective detective work, and I still find him hilarious. I also still think Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe’s chemistry is fantastic, and both March and Healy are great characters in my opinion. I love the climax here with all my heart, and personally I might even call it Verbinski-level. Healy flying into two guys also just might be one of the funnest moments in action cinema history for my money. Also, “Sometimes you just win,” is a quote that pops into my head pretty often, and I’d completely forgotten that it came from here. I admire the attention to detail here, and a number of moments made a lot more sense to me on rewatch, especially Nixon showing up. Oh also, Amelia looks a good bit like Emma Roberts in my opinion. Overall, I love this movie and would recommend it pretty strongly if you’re in the mood for an r-rated fun time.
