Technically flawless and highly entertaining, even though not very credible. For some reason, in the case of The Revenant I am prepared to sacrifice my demand for 100% realism and accept the exaggerations that are put in this. The story is basically the same as any historic revenge film ever made (Braveheart, The Patriot, Gladiator etc), but the struggle to reach the actual act of revenge is emphasised, rather than spending a lot of time on the fulfilment of the goal itself, which creates a rather unique cinematic experience.
I can not underline enough how visually perfect The Revenant is. Someone wrote that regardless of what you think of the content of this film, the technical side to it is absolutely stunning. I agree wholeheartedly.
