Trip to the movies with my daughter. She was very excited to see this because she had read the book.
What a lovely, heartfelt film. Feels like a real throwback. No referential humor, no jokes aimed at the adults intending to go over the head of the kids. A charming time dealing with motherhood, working outside the confines of society, and working collectively. Excellent voice acting--yes they're movie stars but they deliver genuinely good voice work without being flashy and without drawing too much attention to themselves. I probably tend to overrate movies I see with my daughter in the theaters because that time is so special to me but this one is truly great.
