the concept of arthur being the catalyst for the real joker is a really cool and interesting add to this story but im sad to say this fell kind of flat for me i love the original so much and this just felt like it lacked heart and full commitment to what it was trying to be, like if you wanted it to be a musical todd you needed to fully send it instead of giving this movie an identity crisis of what it was trying to be i was so stoked for lady gaga to be added to match joaquins freak just for them to not really flesh out her character at all despite the 2+ hour runtime is crazy it felt so slow and every time i felt it picked up it would fall right back into nothing the mountain music sequence was definitely my favorite part but i still feel like this movie really could not find any type of identity at all, just every idea mashed into one with things that werent important being super drawn out at least imo it definitely isnt terrible but as a huge lover of the first one i think we definitely could have went without this one… :/
