Scream 4 feels like a back-to-basics approach, with Wes Craven trading humor and complex exposition for a stark and bloody storyline rife with kills and nihilistic themes. I dig how the story is now solely centered around the effects of trauma and PTSD, and how those elements affect and alter the characters like a deadly virus. Some cheesy bits here and there don’t do it any favors, but otherwise Scream 4 is an entertaining ride back through the horrors of Woodsboro.
Very interested to see how 5 plays out, especially without Wes masterminding from the command center. Watched via Lionsgate Blu-ray.
