While it's ultimately a tiny bit of a let down after its excellent build-up, The Nice Guys had me cackling like a hyena in The Lion King. Perfect brand of dark humor...
The film and its toying with noir genre conventions reminded me a lot of The Long Goodbye, which can only be a good thing.
I've wanted to see this one for a while, I think I first saw the trailer for this when we went to see Hail, Caesar! or Split...
Conclusion: While it had the potential to be more, this is a fine summer buddy comedy. In lesser hands (i.e. with a lesser cast), it may have been much worse, but Gosling and Crowe carry this to entertaining heights.
