Having a car drive into this western gives just the right note of historical frisson. At first it seems like an anachronism, but then you realize that the car is in its correct time, and it's the men who are the anachronisms.
I'm sure that the good guys are bad / bad guys are ok revisionism and the operatic violence was probably quite a thrill in 1969. But hell, that's before even I was born, and I don't think it holds quite the same wallop any more. Before long, it'll be the movie that's the anachronism.
