I may not like this as much as I once did (just a little) but I can't help but admire its production. So many people move to LA with dreams of success but don't always realize what's needed to make that success happen. And sometimes you can't let anything get in the way.
I still don't like how stubborn Sebastian is proven correct in the end. I facilitate between liking and hating the meet cute budding romance of Mia and Sebastian. It's the crux of the story and the narrative itself is fine. These two characters should be together but they're too in their own worlds to ever make it work.
But everything else about is magical. Some slick and wonderful camerawork (even when it's illogical and indulgent). The songs are good and the acting performances are really good (the singing and dancing is only so-so).
Maybe my opinion will change again in another half decade.
