Beetlejuice Beetlejuice is the 2024 dark fantasy comedy horror directed by Tim Burton. Starring Winona Ryder, Michael Keaton, Jenna Ortega and Catherine O'Hara the plot sees Lydia Deetz struggling to keep her family together after returning to Winter River.
Quick Thoughts
It's impossible these days to avoid any kind of review or opinion of a film thats been out more than 24 hours. From that expectations get set before you've seen single minute of the film.
My expectations were lowered after it's release but in this case that may have aided the experience as I got caught off guard by the levels of entertainment.
It takes time to get going, Winona Ryder is not great, there's too many unnecessary threads of a story and we just didn't need the Rory character but it's wacky and fun with a good amount of the runtime spent in the afterlife.
Colourful, musical and creative, there are some really good performances on display aswell with the most of the cast really into the whole experience. Now let's be honest, there's going to be a Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice, Beetlejuice and I'll be there for it (I just don't think Michael Keaton has 36 years to wait again).
