HOW ENTERTAINED WAS I THIS TIME???
Coming off of Ridley Scott’s last two mediocre movies House of Gucci (2021) & Napoleon (2023) he needed to make a big return and I’m happy to say this is his best movie since Alien: Covenant (2017)! I am also happy to say I WAS ENTERTAINED!!!! He had a lot of pressure with this while this movie doesn't even come close to living up to the first one. I still had a blast watching this! I was pretty excited after seeing the first trailer, but I was extremely nervous about this. I think the first Gladiator is a perfect movie and I was truly scared Ridley Scott would screw this up. Thankfully he didn’t at all. While this movie truly shouldn't have existed at least it wasn’t a disgrace to the first movie! Paul Mescal is absolutely phenomenal as Lucius and while he doesn't live up anywhere to what Russell Crowe did with the first movie he still delivered!! Denzel Washington is absolutely incredible in this and gives another amazing performance to look at!!! I now understand the hype with his performance!!! He definitely deserves the Oscar buzz!! What he does in that third act was truly fantastic in every way to watch! He is 70 years old and he continues to deliver incredible performances!! He really is one of the best actors we have ever had!!! Pedro Pascal is great for what he’s given. I wish he had way more screen time! Connie Nielsen is brilliant and she was given much more to do in this! Joseph Quinn, Fred Hechinger, and Derek Jacobi are all great as well! Ridley Scott did a brilliant job directing this!! Harry Gregson-Williams’s score is really good, but nowhere near reaches the heights of Hans Zimmer’s score in the first one. John Mathieson did a really good job with the cinematography! I would definitely recommend this to anyone, especially to anyone that wants to be entertained!!! I had a great time with this and I am very interested to see everyone’s reactions to this! This movie is going to flop unfortunately because Wicked is going to dominate! Hopefully this does well enough!
